The Master's Course at PPLET is accessible to the whole Brazilian community as well as foreign students. Admission occurs yearly, and the Program accepts candidates with diplomas in Literatures/Languages and other similar areas. To be accepted in the Course, the candidate must go under the selection process with a Research proposal, show relevant academic production and take a written test about a theme from Literary Studies.In order to receive a Master's Diploma, the candidate must write a dissertation in the field, advised by a member of the Faculty.
Incoming Students’ Profile:
The Curricular structure of the Mater’s Course on Literary Studies comprehends mandatory and optional subjects, and the latter can be those of fixed or open Program, when defined a posteriori. The mandatory subjects (4 credits each) are divided into General Mandatory for all the incoming students and the Line Mandatory Subjects corresponding to the Line of Research of the student. Therefore the subjects are: Literary Theory: tradition and contemporaneity (General Mandatory); Literature, Memory and Identities (Line 1 Mandatory); Literary Representation: text and Culture (Mandatory Line 2); Literature, Interarts and Intermedia: dialogues (Line 3 Mandatory).
The incoming student in the Master’s Course must fulfil credits for 2 Optional subjects, be them of fixed or open programs, as follows: Fixed Program subjects: Comparative Studies, Literature and History, Poetic Text Theories, The Narrative Text and its Forms: fiction, history and memory, Text and Culture, Literature and Arts/Media: languages and supports. Open Program subjects: Seminars in Literary Theory and Historiography, Comparative Literature Seminars, Contemporary Literature Seminars, Brazilian Literature Seminars, Culture Theories Seminar, Text Theories Seminars, Seminars in Literature and the Other Arts, Seminar in Literary Studies.
Minimum Master’s duration: 12 months
Maximum Master’s duration: 24 months
